Goodyear G159 problems?

I am new to RVing and have recently purchased a Class A DP MH. It came with Goodyear G159's on it. I haven't had problem one but was looking on the Internet and saw where they are no longer available (silent recall?) due to a high amount of blowouts. Is anyone familiar with this information? Has anyone had any problems with the G159's? Also, is anyone aware of any recall information? Thanks.

RE: Tacoma PU with Harley in Bed as a toad?

I pull a pre-Tacoma Toyota pickup with a Yamaha crotch rocket secured to the bed. Since my bike is short the rear wheel rests on the back of the bed just before the tailgate. I have to drive with the tailgate down since the wheel is longer than the bed, however. I bought a wheel chock from HarborFreight.com which is outstanding. It bolts to the bed and really holds down that front wheel. Just make sure you secure down the back of the bike or you will do a front-end wheelie. I never had a problem with the load but I'm sure it makes the Toyota a little more top-heavy.

RE: Driving Motorhome in wind and truck blast

To put it bluntly. How old are you? I am 42 and own an RV with my dear 72 year old father-in-law who is very hip and quite the man about town. When it comes to the RV though, he is gun shy. He will set the cruise control on 45 (not quite true-but close) and hide in the right lane/shoulder as long as he can. As a result we have tree limbs scraping down the right side of the rv and rumble strip vibration as a rule when he drives. I do drive most of the time, and agree that these highway situations happen. You have to anticipate and realise that you will not be blown over. It is almost impossible. The knuckles will get less white with each trip. Keep at it. White knuckles know no boundaries. I am 43 and somewhat gun shy just as your Dad is. I think things will improve, though. Practice makes perfect. This thing is a whole lot different from driving my car but I'll be a pro in no time. Thanks to everyone on this forum for the advice.

Driving Motorhome in wind and truck blast

I am a newbie to the RV lifestyle and have recently completed my first solo MH trip. I have a 36 foot diesel pusher and tow a lightweight toad. On a few days on the road I was really made nervous by the amount of wind I encountered (primarily in south Texas and other parts of the country that were experiencing high winds due to some snowstorms on the way). The wind seems to be the biggest problem particularly when heading into the wind but also from the sides. I also increase my "pucker factor" when the trucks blast past me and knock me to the right. I don't drive very fast and rarely even get up to the speed limit. I see other MH'rs blasting past me as well. I'm wondering if they have some type of secret. I continually think I'm going to tip over or get blown off onto the shoulder and lose control. I am getting used to the trucks providing there are wide shoulders but the wind really makes me grab the wheel with white knuckles. I am under the impression that this is a common occurrence especially in flat areas with little or no trees. Can some of you experienced RV'rs give me some advice as to be able to cope with this situation? I don't want to give up the RV lifestyle but being new at this I find it nerve wracking which makes the trip much less than pleasurable. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have received excellent responses from you experienced types when posting on this forum in the past. Thanks in advance.

RE: Breakdown Information

2000 HR Endeavor DP 46000 miles. Cat 300 HP w/ Allison 6 Speed Tranny. Problem: Driving along and engine was losing power. Would idle and sometimes get up to full power but would ultimately "chug chug" down the road. Finally made it to a rest stop and got some family to come help me. Chugged it to the nearest diesel mechanic who immediately diagnosed the problem as a fuel separator (filter?). Changed separator and the thing ran like a champ. The mechanic said it is good practice to change the fuel separator once a year under normal driving conditions as diesel fuel is mighty nasty stuff. He also mentioned that when taking off the old filter there was visible trash in and around the filter. I got off luck with a $20 filter and $75 in labor.

Caterpillar Diesel Air Conditioner won't work

Anyone out there with experience dealing with the compressors and A/C on Cat Diesels? I have a Cat 300HP diesel. I have only owned the 2000 HR Endeavor for five months and the A/C worked fine when I first bought it. I tried to turn it on while heading to TX recently and couldn't get any cold air. I checked the fuse and it metered out fine. Any suggestions? I have tried to run the engine and turn the A/C on to see if the compressor engages but to be honest I am not able to find the compressor. I appreciate any help you experienced folks can give me.

RE: HR Endeavor motor home won't crank

Well, I am off work and was able to hook the chassis batteries to a charger. Yep. They were discharged. I charged them a bit and after a few cranks the motor fired up. I will continue to let them charge fully (they are now pulling 10 amps) and will see if they hold the charge. Thanks for all the good advice. This forum is definitely the place for newbies like me to seek answers to problems with my motor home.

RE: HR Endeavor motor home won't crank

Even after I removed the key from the ignition the warning light panel didn't go off. It lit up each individual light in a circular pattern which rotated in a circle. I'm sure this has some meaning but being new to RVing I don't know what the heck it means. This pattern (on a freightliner chassis) indicates very low voltage in the chassis (cranking) batteries). On my 2000 Endeavor, (converter but no inverter), being plugged into 50 amp service will charge my house batteries, but not my chassis batteries. It takes a lot of amps to crank that cold engine. As others have advised, separately charge the cranking batteries and try again. Let us know the outcome. Thanks much for this info. Again, I am new to RVing. Since you have the same motor home I do I guess you know what is going on with my battery. I had to work the weekend but will get out there today and try again. I guess I can use my simple 12V charger to charge the chassis batteries. I do have an inverter/charger and have kept it plugged in for the last couple of days so I will see what the final outcome is. I have had mixed opinions of whether it will charge the chassis batteries. Thanks for the input.
